Transparent methodology

What the result includes—and what it does not

Updated SolveKit editorial review — calculator QA

Built for anyone who works with CSV or Excel exports and does not want to upload them to a stranger's server.

Calculation method

  1. 1Files are parsed with a streaming RFC 4180 reader that handles quotes, escaped quotes, line breaks inside cells, BOMs, and detects the delimiter and encoding automatically.
  2. 2Eighteen operations share one engine: cleaning, deduplicating, filtering, sorting, splitting, merging, column edits and CSV/Excel conversion, chainable without re-uploading.
  3. 3Streaming operations (dedupe, filter, clean, replace) were measured at 250 MB in ~9 seconds; operations that must hold the whole table (sort, split, convert) get heavy above 50 MB, with ~100 MB as an approximate desktop maximum depending on browser and content.

Assumptions and limits

  • Sorting, splitting, merging and Excel conversion load the whole table in memory; the interface labels each one with its measured practical limit.
  • Excel reads take the first worksheet; formulas arrive as their cached values and date cells as Excel serial numbers unless stored as text.
  • File contents are processed locally and never uploaded; the only telemetry is an aggregate operation counter with no file names, column names or contents.

Worked example

Clean, dedupe and convert in one visit

Input: A 40 MB sales export with duplicate rows and stray spaces.

Output: One pass of Clean, then Remove duplicates, then CSV to Excel — downloaded as a typed .xlsx without the file ever leaving the laptop.

How to use it

Three steps. One clear answer.

  1. 1Enter or paste the values requested by the tool.
  2. 2Review the input units and choose any relevant options.
  3. 3Calculate, then copy or download the result you need.

Built for trust

Useful without the friction.

  • No registration or paywall before your result.
  • Responsive controls for phone, tablet, and desktop.
  • Clear assumptions and warnings where estimates have limits.

Frequently asked questions

How does the CSV & Excel Toolkit work?

Files are parsed with a streaming RFC 4180 reader that handles quotes, escaped quotes, line breaks inside cells, BOMs, and detects the delimiter and encoding automatically. Eighteen operations share one engine: cleaning, deduplicating, filtering, sorting, splitting, merging, column edits and CSV/Excel conversion, chainable without re-uploading. Streaming operations (dedupe, filter, clean, replace) were measured at 250 MB in ~9 seconds; operations that must hold the whole table (sort, split, convert) get heavy above 50 MB, with ~100 MB as an approximate desktop maximum depending on browser and content.

What should I check before using the result?

Sorting, splitting, merging and Excel conversion load the whole table in memory; the interface labels each one with its measured practical limit. Excel reads take the first worksheet; formulas arrive as their cached values and date cells as Excel serial numbers unless stored as text. File contents are processed locally and never uploaded; the only telemetry is an aggregate operation counter with no file names, column names or contents.
