Calculation method
- 1HEIC/HEIF files are decoded on your device with libheif compiled to WebAssembly — no upload, because desktop browsers do not decode HEIC natively.
- 2Each decoded image is re-encoded to JPEG at the quality you choose (0.90 by default).
- 3Batches run in parallel Web Workers; results download individually or as one ZIP.
Assumptions and limits
- JPEG is a lossy format: the conversion keeps the visible quality you select but is not bit-identical to the HEIC original.
- Metadata is not carried over to the JPEG copy; keep the originals if you need EXIF history.
- Live Photos convert as their still frame.
