Shopify keeps every value whose column is absent from the file, and all variants of each touched product are included so none can be dropped on import.

  • Products and variants: none created or deleted

How it decides

The method, in three steps.

  1. 01The supplier's stock column is matched to your variants by SKU or barcode with live match-rate feedback and normalization for messy keys.
  2. 02Out-of-stock policy is explicit: supplier zero can set stock to 0 or leave it unchanged; items missing from the supplier file are reported, never silently zeroed by default.
  3. 03Only variants that already track inventory in Shopify receive quantity updates; untracked variants are skipped and listed, and tracking settings are never modified.
